Position: CASHIER (Seasonal, Part-Time)

    If you are looking for a part-time job working for Spokane's premier shopping and entertainment center, we invite you to submit your application for the position of part-time seasonal Cashier at River Park Square. Assignment is scheduled to end January 31, 2017.
 
What we want you to do...
  • Calculate and receive payment from customers for parking services at RPS pay stations and completing these transactions accurately
  • You will work approximately 20-30 hours per week (shifts varying between 8:00 pm and 5:00 pm) while providing top-notch customer service to our garage customers
  • Greet and converse with customers in a courteous manner
  • Direct customers to their requested mall locations or mall personnel
Who you are...
  • You are over 18 and willing and available to work flexible hours as days and shifts will vary between 9am and 1am
  • Qualified applicants understand what it means to provide exceptional customer service
  • Previous customer service and cashier experience is preferred

Position: DISTRICT MANAGER

    The Spokesman-Review is currently recruiting for a full-time District Manager positions in our Circulation department. One position is located in the Coeur d'Alene, ID area.
 
    Are you a night owl? Are you looking for more than just another job? Are you a highly motivated, customer-focused individual with strong organizational and communication skills? Are you a self-starter who can work independently to manage an assigned area in the wee hours of the morning? If any of this rings a bell, The Spokesman-Review may have the perfect full-time career opportunity for you!
 
    District Managers are responsible for effectively overseeing customer service and on-time delivery of our daily newspapers and related print products by recruiting, selecting, and contracting independent newspaper carriers in an assigned area.
 
    What's A Typical Week Like? All District Managers work Wednesday and Sunday, plus 3 other assigned days. Your shift begins at 12:30 a.m. by making rounds to your assigned distribution centers and drop-off locations. You will use your own reliable vehicle (we reimburse your mileage!) to go where you're needed to ensure complete customer satisfaction in your district. In fact, you can earn a monthly bonus based on customer satisfaction. You will contract and integrate new carriers in your district and ensure that independent contractor compliance requirements are met. If a subscriber in your area is unhappy, you will use your superior customer service skills to resolve their complaint. You will keep a sharp eye on all route assignments and delivery areas to be sure that our loyal subscribers are happy customers!
 
What We Require of all District Managers:
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible days beginning at 12:30 a.m.
  • Superb customer focused attitude
  • Good driving record, a reliable vehicle & proof of insurance
  • Strong organizational & communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel (will be tested upon application)
  • Experience in a customer service position.

Position: ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN/EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE

    The Spokesman-Review is currently seeking an Electronic Technician/Equipment Maintenance to provide support, on-call and preventative maintenance on equipment utilized in the production of our paper. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong working knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and theory, computer software, fiber optics, chemical processing, hydraulics, motors and motor controls, conveyors and programmable logic controller. You will work closely with the production team in order to effectively keep the functionality of equipment in operation.
 
What you will do as an Electronic Technician:
  • Perform daily inspections of and repairs to production equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Troubleshoot to the component level on a large variety of electrical-electronic equipment
  • Communicate with and order parts from outside vendors. Perform research to determine cost effective suppliers
  • Recommend, develop and implement modifications that will enhance the safe operation of equipment

Qualified applicants will be able to:
  • Work safely on live electrical circuits with voltages up to 480vac
  • Work unsupervised and with other departments to solve equipment problems
  • Problem solve equipment failures
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, outside vendors and internal customers
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Work safely in an environment where there is exposure to moving parts, electricity, high places, high noise levels, wet and/or humid conditions, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions
  • Work in an environment where there is frequently standing, walking stopping, kneeling or crawling and able to left and/or move up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Applicants has an associate's degree or two years education from a technical school, plus 5 years related experience working at an electronic technician or equivalent combination

Position: SECURITY OFFICER

    Centennial Properties is looking for a dedicated, energetic and motivated Security Officer. The Officer will monitor and control access into buildings and secured areas which are owned and operated by Cowles Company. The position will also monitor and record data related to security and fire control systems, and execute appropriate procedures in the event of an emergency. We are looking for a candidate who pays close attention to detail, is open to working various days and shifts, and enjoys interacting with a wide range of customers and clientele.

    Qualified candidates must be able to work without direct supervision, function calmly and professionally in a crisis situation, and display strong customer service skills at all times with employees and visitors. This individual must also have excellent written/verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills, have the ability to walk, climb, kneel, and crouch in order to patrol the facilities and is able to perform in various work environment and conditions on a regular basis. (Applicants will be tested on Work, Excel and Outlook)

    This full-time position starts at $11.00/hr and will be eligible for benefits including medical/dental, vacation, and sick pay.

Position: TRUCK DRIVER (Part-Time)

    The Spokesman-Review is looking for an energetic, reliable, motivated and safe part-time Truck Driver. The truck driver will be making local deliveries to our company distribution centers, load and unload the truck, and complete other assigned tasks. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys working on a team, thrives in a fast paced environment, prefers to work late evening to early morning hours, and enjoys physical labor. This is the perfect position if you're looking for some additional work, or a part-time job that fits within daily life.
 
Responsibilities as a Driver:
  • You will load and deliver newspapers to distribution locations
  • You will stage newspaper bundles to be picked for delivery that morning
  • You will work primarily in the late night to early morning hours (approx. 9:00 pm- 5:30 am)
  • Qualified applicants must be able to work unsupervised
Qualifications:
  • You have a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record. (Driving records will be checked on all final candidates. Only those with clean records in the last 3 years will be considered for employment)
  • Have the ability to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Have the ability to drive a truck under 26,000 GVW. Candidate's who will drive a truck over 26,001 GVW will be required to have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

We look for dedicated employees to support the production and distribution of our paper every morning of the week. As a member of the Transportation and Delivery department this position ensures that our newspapers are delivered on time to readers.

    This part-time position will work less than 19 hours a week starting at $11.60/hr for non-CDL candidate and $11.85/hr for those candidates with a CDL.
